Job summary

UNC Health Care’s Chemotherapy Pharmacy team in Chapel Hill is seeking a pharmacist to optimize medication use and oversee distribution for complex therapies.

Responsibilities include interpreting prescriptions, providing clinical interventions, and supervising staff. Requires PharmD or BS Pharmacy and NC pharmacist licensure (or within 6 months). This is a full-time, onsite evening position in Chapel Hill with 40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Pharmacist degree required (PharmD or BS Pharmacy).
• Active licensure with NC Board of Pharmacy or licensure to be obtained within 6 months of orientation.

Responsibilities

• Receives prescriptions, interprets prescriptions, and reviews patient medication history; clarifies issues with prescriber or nurse.
• Uses patient data to provide drug therapy recommendations and performs protocol-driven clinical services.
• Compounds/oversees preparation and dispensing of medications including sterile products.
• Ensures formulary adherence and cost-effective therapy.
• Completes documentation in medical records and related systems.
• Counsels patients and families on pharmaceutical care.

Education

PharmD or BS Pharmacy Degree

Active pharmacist licensure with the NC Board of Pharmacy or obtainable before initiation of employment
