Job summary

McLaren Health Care is seeking a per diem Chaplain to provide spiritual and emotional support to patients, families, and staff on an on-call basis. You will respond to referrals, collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, and offer pastoral care, education for staff, and community clergy coordination.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Divinity, Theology, or Religious/Pastoral Studies and at least one year of chaplaincy or pastoral ministry experience; a Master’s degree, CPE, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Divinity, Theology or Religious/Pastoral Studies required.
• One year chaplain experience or other pastoral ministry experience.
• Master’s degree in theology or related subject preferred.
• Clinical pastoral education (CPE), minimum one unit preferred.
• Ordination and/or ecclesiastical endorsement preferred.

Responsibilities

• Respond to spiritual requests/referrals from patients, family members and staff.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary approach to pastoral care and patient health.
• Provide spiritual support through listening, prayer, and guidance with staff and other primary caregivers.
• Develop and provide educational programs for staff on ethical, spiritual and emotional issues.
• Develops and maintains a resource group of clergy within the community and healthcare system.
• Maintains records, reports and other documentation related to the work.
• Performs other related duties as required and directed.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Divinity, Theology or Religious/Pastoral Studies
