Job summary

McLaren Health Care, headquartered in Grand Blanc, Michigan, seeks an on-call Chaplain to provide spiritual and emotional support to patients, families and staff within the health care system.

The role involves responding to referrals, participating in interdisciplinary care, and collaborating with primary caregivers, with opportunities to develop clergy networks and educational programs. On-call duties and documentation are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Divinity, Theology or Religious/Pastoral Studies is required.
• One year chaplain experience or other pastoral ministry experience is required.
• Master’s degree in theology or related subject is preferred.
• Clinical pastoral education, minimum of one unit is preferred.
• Ordination and/or ecclesiastical endorsement is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Responds appropriately to spiritual requests/referrals from patient, family members and staff.
• Participates in an interdisciplinary approach to pastoral care and patient health.
• Provides spiritual support through listening, prayer and guidance in collaboration with staff and other primary caregivers.
• Participate in and provide educational programs for staff on ethical, spiritual and emotional issues.
• Develops and maintains a resource group of clergy within the community and healthcare system.
• Maintains records, reports and other documentation related to the work.
• Performs other related duties as required and directed.

Position Summary:
