Job summary

McLaren Health Care in Pontiac, MI is seeking an Occupational Therapist Assistant per diem to support the occupational therapy team. You will implement components of the plan of care, adjust interventions based on patient feedback, and help manage discharge planning.

This role requires graduation from an accredited OTA program, current licensure, and BLS certification. Weekend shifts are required, and the position offers per diem scheduling with opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited occupational therapy assistant program.
• Current State Board of Occupational Therapist Assistant licensure.
• BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Implements the individualized plan of care as established by the occupational therapist.
• Adjusts treatment interventions in response to patient feedback and objective data.
• Assists the occupational therapist with managing the established discharge plan.
• Supervises and delegates to ancillary staff and students consistent with state laws and department policy.
• Completes legible, accurate, and clear documentation within the established timeframe identified in the department policy.
• Communicates with the patient, family, caregivers, and health care team to promote maximum benefit of care using AIDET.
• Identifies educational needs of the patient and provides education to meet those needs.
• Participates in professional growth and development through education sessions and reading current literature.
• Participates in quality improvement activities.
• Provides a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff and complies with safety standards.
• Functions within scope of practice as defined by the state’s practice act.
