Job summary

UCI Health in Orange and Irvine is seeking a Nursing Assistant to support professional nursing staff by taking vital signs, assisting with hygiene, and maintaining a clean, safe unit. You will float between Orange and Irvine campuses and perform routine clerical tasks, stock supplies, and operate equipment as directed.

Strong communication and English proficiency are required; BLS and CNA or active nursing program participation are preferred.

Qualifications

• Understanding of basic medical terminology.
• Must be able to float between the Orange and Irvine locations.
• Must be CNA certified or enrolled in a nursing program with completion of at least 1 clinical semester.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English.
• Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively in a therapeutic way.
• Current BLS certification upon hire (issued by the AHA).
• Willingness to work weekends and holidays.
• Nursing Assistants hired prior to May 2010 who did not possess certification are not required to obtain it at this time.

Responsibilities

• Take and record vital signs.
• Assist patients with hygiene and elimination.
• Maintain a clean and safe unit environment.
• Stock unit supplies.
• Operate hospital equipment as directed.
• Perform routine clerical tasks.
• Assist with other related duties as assigned.
