Job summary

CHRISTUS Health is seeking a Chaplain, Non-Certified (NC) I, to join our health care team on a full-time basis. The chaplain will provide for patients' spiritual needs under supervision, offering prayer or reflection as appropriate.

The role requires the ability to assess, plan, implement, and document spiritual care across diverse situations, and to collaborate with the palliative care and interprofessional teams. The schedule includes night hours and per diem availability as needed.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree required.

Responsibilities

• Assesses, provides and documents spiritual care to patients, families, and staff in a variety of situations.
• Gathers data for ongoing spiritual assessment of patients or families.
• Develops and implements a spiritual plan of care based on assessment.
• Documents spiritual assessment and plan of care in patient medical records.
• Participates as a member of the interprofessional team identifying needs and developing plan of care.
• Plans and facilitates worship services as needed.
• Provides spiritual care to associates via individual and group interactions.
• Collects data to monitor quality and effectiveness of spiritual care.
• Develops specialized spiritual care services for specific areas of assignment.
• Serves as a teaching resource about spirituality and health outcomes.
• Assists with debriefing and support after major events.
• Provides resources as requested by patient/family.
• Introduces patient/family to services of Spiritual Care department.
• Contacts community clergy as requested by patient/family.
• Functions under stress and crises; adapts to changes.
