Job summary

Emerson Health in Concord, MA is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to join our per diem lab team under the Evening Lab Supervisor and an experienced Medical Technologist. You will perform a wide range of diagnostic tests on blood and body fluids, ensuring accurate results for physicians and patients.

Responsibilities include specimen processing, quality control, phlebotomy support, data entry, and staying current with CLIA, CAP, OSHA standards.

Qualifications

Associate degree in chemical, biological, or medical laboratory science/technology; ASCP cert may substitute.
At least one year of lab experience; new grads welcome.
ASCP certification preferred.
Strong technical knowledge of automated and manual lab methods.
Ability to communicate clearly in English and maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

Process and analyze specimens with accuracy and efficiency, reporting results promptly.
Recognize and communicate critical values to care teams and physicians.
Troubleshoot unusual cases and ensure specimen integrity.
Perform and document daily quality control checks and calibrate equipment.
Support lab operations with phlebotomy, labeling, inventory, and maintenance.
Serve as a technical resource and train others on equipment or procedures.
Stay current with OSHA, CLIA, CAP, Joint Commission standards and ongoing education.
Contribute to continuous quality improvement and uphold excellence.
