Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program with externship preferred, or at least 1 year of direct patient care experience.
• At least six months of medical assistant experience.
• Knowledge of medical procedures and terminology.
• Working knowledge of occupational medicine requirements (state specific) preferred.
• Core competencies: service mindset, attention to detail, sense of urgency, initiative, flexibility.
• Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing; strong customer service.
• Must maintain HIPAA and PHI privacy; handle confidential information properly.
• Active participation in ongoing training and certifications such as drug screen collection and respirator fit testing.

Responsibilities

• Perform DOT and Non-DOT drug and alcohol testing.
• Prepare patients for exams, take vital signs, assist with ancillary testing (vaccines, phlebotomy, PFTs, audiogram, respirator fit).
• Conduct rapid screening tests (influenza, strep, glucose, etc.).
• Assist clinicians during examinations and treatments.
• Setup procedures and assist with injury care.
• Apply bandages and dressings as ordered.
• Dispense medications and DME per clinician instructions.
