Job summary

Community Partners in Action in Hamden, CT is seeking a Per Diem Assistant Chef for the REGIONS-Site Secure Residential Treatment Program for male youth. The role supports on-site kitchen operations and meal planning for about 200 servings daily, contributing to a safe, compliant food program.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, at least one year of food preparation in a group setting, knowledge of CT health regulations, and a willingness to work weekends/holidays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 1 year of group setting food prep/ordering experience.
• Knowledge of CT food service regulations and health requirements.
• Certified Qualified Food Operator or ability to qualify.
• Ability to train staff in food prep.

Responsibilities

• Assist Chef in planning and preparing about 200 meals daily.
• Assist with inventory and food orders.
• Follow dietary guidelines determined by licensed dietician.
• Maintain sanitation per agency and Health Department specs.
• Monitor Fire Safety Standards per law.
• Provide vocational training to youth on food service and safe handling.
• Comply with program policies and procedures.
• Maintain professional boundaries with staff and youth.
• Model pro-social behavior for youth and staff.
• Participate in required training.
• Perform other duties as required.
