Job summary

UC Davis Health is seeking a Per Diem Cook to prepare meals for patients, visitors and staff in a hospital setting. This on-site role supports multiple service areas including trayline, cafeteria, grill, deli and catering, with a 20% time commitment and flexible PT schedule.

The position requires reading and adjusting recipes, portion control, and knowledge of sanitation procedures. Prior large-volume cooking and ServSafe certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience working directly with customers.
• Read, understand, and accurately prepare recipes.
• Correctly adjust recipes to produce required portions.
• Use portion control to maintain flavor, appearance, and contribute to cost containment.
• Follow written and oral instructions.
• Meet all schedules and assignments.
• Organize work and work area to complete assigned duties accurately and quickly.
• Accurately use measuring equipment and utensils
• Knowledge of sanitation and safety procedures/requirements used in hospitals and food service areas.
• Knowledge of diets, diet terminology, and dietary abbreviations or ability to learn these.
