Job summary

City of Hope in California is seeking a Histotechnologist for the Anatomic Pathology team. This per diem role supports the lab's workflow with flexible hours, including Fridays, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

You will embed and section tissue samples, prepare slides, and help troubleshoot staining and processing issues while maintaining quality and regulatory standards. GI/Breast tissue knowledge is preferred; ASCP HT/HTL background encouraged.

Qualifications

• Associates degree and completion of a certified clinical program in medical laboratory sciences in histopathology or equivalent education.
• 0-1 years of experience in a histology laboratory.
• ASCP HT or HTL certification.
• Knowledge of GI and Breast tissue preferred.
• Flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Prepare tissues and stained slides of high quality.
• Embed and section biopsy, bone marrow, cytology, and routine surgical cases.
• Assist with troubleshooting technical, processing, and staining issues.
• Meet daily workflow functions of a throughput histology lab.
• Maintain specimen processing and testing for diagnostic purposes.
• Assist in lab inspections and SOP reviews for regulatory compliance.
