Job summary

Unio Health Partners seeks a Histotechnician II for per diem coverage across its California laboratories. The role performs tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, staining, and quality control to support pathologists and researchers.

The candidate will handle accessioning, grossing, routine histology operations, equipment troubleshooting, and maintain CAP/CLIA-compliant records. A relevant degree, five years of histology experience, and HT/HTL certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master’s degree in a scientific/chemistry field, or AS/AA in science or chemistry.
• Five years experience in an anatomic pathology laboratory with gross, embedding, cutting, staining.
• HT/HTL Histotechnician certification preferred; knowledge of CAP/CLIA regulations.

Responsibilities

• Accessioning, grossing, processing, embedding, and cutting blocks of all pathology specimens.
• Daily participation in routine histology laboratory operations, efficiently and cost-effectively.
• Troubleshooting histology equipment and communicating issues to the supervisor.
• Maintaining daily records and equipment maintenance logs per CAP/CLIA policies.
• Checking work for accuracy and quality.
• Data entry for Vital Access Lab information system.

Histotechnician II - Per Diem

Position Summary

The Histotech II is responsible for preparing tissue specimens for examination by pathologists, researchers, and other medical professionals. This role involves precision work in histological techniques, including tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, staining, and quality control. Histotechnicians play a vital role in assisting in the diagnosis and research of diseases.

What You Will Be Doing

• Assume timely and accurate responsibility for the accessioning, grossing, processing, embedding, and cutting blocks of all pathology specimens.
• Assume responsibility for daily participation in the routine operation of the histology laboratory as efficiently and cost-effectively as possible.
• Assume responsibility for troubleshooting histology equipment and ability to communicate problems to the laboratory supervisor.
• Maintains daily records and equipment maintenance logs as required by CAP/CLIA regulations and policies.
• Checks all work for accuracy and quality.
• Data entry for Vital Access Lab information system.

What You Will Bring To The Team

• Bachelor or Master's degree in a scientific/chemistry field, or AS/AA in science or chemistry.
• Five years of experience in an anatomic pathology laboratory with gross, embedding, cutting, staining.
• Licensing and Certification: American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) Histotechnician (HT) (HTL) Histotechnician certification (preferred)
• Knowledge of CDPH, CLIA, CAP, and State and Federal laws that apply to the duties of this position in a moderate to high complexity laboratory.
• Knowledge of histological techniques, staining methods, and laboratory equipment.
