Job summary

VEG ER for Pets in New York is seeking a per diem Emergency Credentialed Veterinary Technician to join our front-line team delivering gold standard, emotionally intelligent care during emergencies.

You'll perform triage, treatments, diagnostics, anesthesia, monitoring, and critical care nursing alongside doctors, while supporting pet parents in stressful moments. This role offers growth, mentorship, and a chance to impact our VEGgies and their community.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred.
• Credentialed as CVT/RVT/LVT/LVMT in the state of practice.
• 1+ year experience in a veterinary technician role, emergency exposure preferred.
• Strong communicator with ability to stay calm under pressure.
• Proficient with practice management software and EMR systems.

Responsibilities

• Triage, treatments, diagnostics, anesthesia, monitoring and critical care nursing.
• Provide nursing care, emotional support, and clear communication to the team and pet parents.
• Assist with IVs, CRIs, transfusions and other emergency interventions.
• Collaborate with doctors to develop and adapt care plans.
• Operate diagnostic imaging, sample collection, and endoscopy as needed.
• Support fast-paced ER workflows in a busy hospital setting.
