Job summary

VEG in California is hiring a per diem Emergency Credentialed Veterinary Technician to join our fast-paced 24/7 ER team. You’ll participate in triage, treatments, diagnostics, anesthesia, monitoring, and critical care nursing, delivering gold‑standard, compassionate care for pets and their families.

The role requires an AVMA‑accredited program degree and state credential (CVT/RVT/LVMT), 1+ year ER experience, strong communication, and physical stamina.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or higher in AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program.
• Credentialed veterinary technician in the state of practice.
• 1+ years in veterinary technician role; emergency or specialty medicine preferred.
• Proficient in basic computer skills and EMR software.
• Excellent communication and composure under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Triage, treatments, diagnostics, anesthesia, monitoring, and critical care nursing.
• Provide nursing care, IVs, CRIs, and blood transfusions.
• Support doctors and team to ensure gold-standard care.
• Communicate with team and pet parents.
• Perform CPR and assist with advanced procedures.
• Utilize diagnostics, imaging, and equipment; central lines, endoscopy, ultrasounds.
