Job summary

Rochester Regional Health is seeking an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in Gouverneur, NY, for per diem, 12-hour variable shifts. The EMT will provide immediate medical care, transport patients, and collaborate with emergency personnel to ensure safe, efficient patient care in diverse environments.

Required NYS Basic EMT and BLS; Driver’s License is essential. Per diem, variable shifts, pay range $20.00–$25.50 per hour, with EVOC preferred.

Qualifications

• BLS required at hire; must obtain AHA BLS within 3 months if not already held.
• EVOC certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergency calls, assess patients’ conditions, and determine interventions with dispatch coordination.
• Safely transport patients, monitor their condition, and provide care during transit.
• Administer CPR, control bleeding, manage airways, and provide life-saving measures.
• Use defibrillators and oxygen delivery systems and other essential equipment.
• Coordinate with paramedics, firefighters, law enforcement, and hospital staff for coordinated care and reporting.
• Maintain accurate patient care reports of assessments, treatments, and responses.
• Ensure emergency vehicles and equipment are clean and ready for use.
• Interpret instructions and calculate weight/volume as required.
• Lift/move patients in challenging environments and stay composed under pressure.
• Pursue continuous education to stay current with protocols.
