Job summary

St. Lawrence Health in Gouverneur, NY seeks an Emergency Medical Technician to provide immediate medical care and transport during emergencies. The EMT stabilizes patients and coordinates with dispatch to ensure safe transfer to facilities.

Qualifications

BLS required at hire; if not AHA, must obtain AHA BLS within 3 months.
Valid NYS Basic EMT certification.
Valid Driver's License.
EVOC or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

Responds to emergency calls and assesses patients.
Safely transport patients and monitor during transit.
Administer CPR, control bleeding, manage airways.
Utilize medical equipment such as defibrillators and oxygen delivery systems.
Collaborate with paramedics, firefighters, law enforcement, and hospital staff.
Maintain accurate patient care reports.
Ensure cleanliness and readiness of vehicles and equipment.
Interpret clinical and diagnostic instructions, including weight/volume calculations.
Lift and move patients with partner support (up to 250 lbs).
Participate in ongoing education to stay current with protocols.
