Job summary

VEG in California is seeking a per diem Emergency Credentialed Veterinary Technician to join our front-line emergency care team. You’ll handle a wide range of cases, from minor to complex emergencies, working alongside doctors to deliver gold standard, emotionally intelligent care.

Responsibilities include triage, treatments, anesthesia, monitoring and critical care nursing, with opportunities to grow your skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; AVMA-accredited associate degree strongly preferred.
• Credentialed veterinary technician (CVT, RVT, LVT, LVMT) in the practice state.
• 1+ years of experience in a veterinary technician role; emergency or specialty experience preferred.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with practice management software and electronic medical records.
• Excellent communication and calm under pressure.
• Ability to lift up to 25 kg; stand for prolonged hours; tolerate noisy environment and odors.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care and emotional support from triage to discharge.
• Deliver treatments, monitoring, IVs/CRIs, transfusions, and care.
• Assist with diagnostics, imaging, sample collection, and tubing.
• Coordinate with team and help shape care plans.
• Perform CPR and other emergency procedures.
• Utilize central lines, endoscopy, ultrasounds, and advanced techniques.
