Job summary

Devereux Massachusetts is seeking a Direct Care Professional to support youth with complex psychological, emotional, and behavioral needs in Rutland, MA. The role focuses on safety, supervision, and delivering compassionate therapeutic interventions in a structured setting.

The position requires being 21+, a valid driver’s license, and MAPS certification (or within 6 months). A 2-week paid orientation is provided for external candidates.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Active driver’s license is required.
• High School diploma or GED. Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, or Special Education preferred.
• Previous experience preferred (not required) working with individuals under 21 with psychological, emotional and behavioral disorders.
• Must be MAPS certified, or able to obtain certification within 6 months of employment if going to a Group Home Setting.
• Must be able to attend a 2 week paid orientation, which runs Monday-Friday, 8AM to 4PM for external candidates.

Responsibilities

• Be passionate about working with and helping youth.
• Be responsible for the safety and security of all youth as assigned by providing direct supervision.
• Provide and ensure therapeutic interventions in a compassionate and safe environment.
• Engage with youth in a meaningful and positive manner, teaching and prompting appropriate behaviors, and providing positive reinforcement for the same.
• Teach and assist with Activities of Daily (ADL) Living Skills.
