Job summary

Tufts Medical Center is seeking nursing student-ready staff to provide professional and nonprofessional nursing care, under supervision, in inpatient settings. This per diem role supports mobilization, wound care assistance, and patient comfort while aligning with physician orders and nursing plans.

The position offers flexible scheduling for students, opportunities for shadowing, mentorship, and future Nurse Residency program consideration based on eligibility and availability.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• BLS Certification.
• Preferred CNA or Medical Assistant credentials.
• 1 year of related experience as Nursing Assistant, PCA, CCT, or PCT.

Responsibilities

• Provides or assists patients with mobilization in a safe, efficient and respectful manner, including ambulation and transfers.
• Reviews and follows activity orders in EMR.
• Greets patients, families, visitors and staff per service standards.
• Communicates clinical data to the assigned nurse in a timely manner.
• Completes mobilization documentation in the EMR accurately.
• Provides comfort measures such as turning and repositioning.
• Completes wound care competencies.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and dignity.
• Maintains cleanliness of equipment and environment.
• Promotes patient activity and mobility.
• Assists with skin assessments.
