Job summary

University Hospital in Newark, NJ seeks an Ambulatory Care Technician Certified for per diem roles to support patients from registration to discharge. The role includes administering injections, coordinating patient flow, and documenting encounters in the EMR.

The candidate should be certified by the AAMA, NCCT, NHA, AMCA, NAHP, NCMA, or AMT (or NJ-licensed as LPN) and proficient in computer systems with CPR/BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Must be certified by a recognized medical-assistant board or NJ-eligible in another classification.
• Experience with intramuscular and subcutaneous injections.
• Computer proficiency and CPR/BLS certification required.
• Proficiency in documenting in the EMR system.

Responsibilities

• Maintains timely flow of patients in Ambulatory Care Services.
• Prepares patients for visits including history, vitals, and screening.
• Documents all patient encounters in the EMR.
• Notifies provider of abnormal vitals promptly.
• Obtains clinical data and administers injections per policy.
• Maintains safe, clean clinical space and supplies.
• Verifies patient insurance benefits and precertification.
