Job summary

Sierra Medical Center, part of Northern Nevada Health System, is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist for per diem coverage. This 170-bed acute care hospital provides 24/7 ER, cardiology, oncology, labor and delivery, level II NICU, and surgical services.

The role processes specimens, reports results, maintains quality control, and supports CAP procedures. State licensure as a Medical Technologist or General Supervisor and a BLS certification are required.

Qualifications

• State Licensure as a Medical Technologist or General Supervisor
• BLS certification

Responsibilities

• Ability to function independently in all areas of the clinical laboratory: blood bank, chemistry, hematology, microbiology and serology/immunology and phlebotomy
• Responsible for performing high-complexity testing
• Is aware of specific procedures for the neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient
• Performs quality control procedures and instrument checks
• Demonstrates knowledge of expected lab values for the neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient
