Job summary

UNC Health Care System in Chapel Hill, NC, is seeking a per diem Registered Nurse for the Cardiovascular and Thoracic Critical Care Unit. This role supports a fast-paced 40-bed unit with complex cardiothoracic and vascular cases. Requires RN licensure in NC, BLS, and at least 1 year of relevant experience.

The position is at-will and does not include employer benefits. Shift requirements include at least one 12-hour shift every two weeks, plus one summer and one winter holiday per year.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a school of professional nursing.
• Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
• One (1) year of relevant and current experience required

Responsibilities

• Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards.
• Coordinates and delivers patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.
• Education: identifies learning needs and participates in education programs.
• Evaluation of care: participates in evaluation and communicates to promote continuity of care.
• Implementation: cares for patients with complex problems and follows policies and procedures.
• Leadership: supports goals and promotes interdepartmental collaboration.
• Patient assessment and planning: prioritizes tasks and plans care with patient/family input.
• Research: keeps up with journals and brings ideas to the team.
