Job summary

Yale NewHaven Health in New London, CT is seeking a Cardiology Support Technician responsible for preparing patients for stress testing, Holter and event monitors, and performing EKGs. This role requires at least 1 year of clinical healthcare experience, Cardiology experience with EKG or stress testing, and proficiency with Windows-based medical software and medical terminology.

You will maintain equipment, assist in rehab programs, and support departmental operations.

Qualifications

High School Graduate required.
1 year of clinical experience in a healthcare setting required.
Cardiology experience with EKG or stress testing required.
PC experience using Windows-based medical software required.
Medical terminology knowledge required.

Responsibilities

Prepares Patients for Stress Testing (Regular and Nuclear) with clear explanations, attaches electrodes, monitors status, and handles paperwork.
Prepares Patients for Holter and Event Monitor tests with instructions, electrode placement, and timely testing.
Monitors patients in Cardiology rehab programs; operates related exercise equipment and monitors vital signs.
Performs 12-lead and rhythm strip EKGs; interprets rhythms and charges tests; documents results.
Obtains patient documents from HIS or Cardiology databases and maintains accuracy.
Keeps EKG carts and stress equipment clean; safely operates all equipment per manufacturer specs.
Cross-trains to other cardiology areas and meets performance expectations.
Performs other duties to ensure smooth department operations.
