Job summary

UNC Health is looking for a Cardiac Sonographer to join their Echo Cardiology department. This role is vital in performing high-quality cardiac ultrasound studies, including transthoracic echo, transesophageal studies, and stress echo. Ideal candidates will also assist with patient care pre- and post-procedures in a heart and vascular hospital setting.

The position requires an Associate’s degree in Sonography or related field, along with ARDMS or CCI registration. Competitive hourly pay is available, with a focus on candidates with pediatric proficiency.

Qualifications

• Registered by ARDMS, CCI, or registry eligible and become registered within one year of hire.
• Must maintain registry status and continuing education requirements annually.
• One year minimum experience in acute hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Deliver pre and post-procedure patient care including emergency cardiac care.
• Ensure equipment is calibrated and properly maintained.
• Generate ultrasound images of the heart and vascular structures.
• Perform vascular studies and provide real-time reports in the operating room.
• Conduct studies for inpatient neonatal/NICU and pediatric patients.
• Perform staff training and serve as a resource to Cardiovascular Sonographers.
• Monitor patient information and maintain report storage systems.
• Prepare procedure room and equipment for daily use.

Education

Associate’s degree in Sonography, Radiology or related field within 3 months of hire

Completion of a twelve-month ultrasound program within 3 months of hire
