Job summary

UNC Health’s Echo Cardiology Department is seeking a Cardiac Sonographer to perform high quality transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiograms, Definity contrast, saline bubble studies, and stress echo. The role involves interpretation prep for Cardiologist review in a heart and vascular hospital setting with multiple ICUs; pediatrics experience is a plus.

The position is per diem with weekend work, onsite in Raleigh, NC.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Sonography, Radiology or related field.
• Completion of a 12-month ultrasound program within 3 months of hire.
• Registered by ARDMS or CCI; registry within 1 year preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver pre‑ and post‑procedure patient care including assessment and emergency cardiac care.
• Ensure equipment calibration and maintenance; record QA and troubleshoot issues.
• Generate ultrasound images of the heart and vascular structures.
• May provide staff training and education.
• Maintain patient data and reports; manage data storage and charge entry.
