Job summary

University of Mount Saint Vincent is seeking a per diem Campus Safety Officer to support the Campus Safety team at our New York campus. Officers patrol the grounds, monitor access, and respond to emergencies in coordination with supervisors.

The role requires a high school diploma (GED acceptable), NYS security and fire guard certifications, and 1–3 years of relevant experience. Overtime, weekends, and on-call duties may apply to ensure campus safety.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• New York State Security Guard certification preferred or required.
• New York Fire Department Fire Guard (F-04) certification preferred.
• 1–3 years of relevant experience and/or training.
• Strong interpersonal, analytical, and judgment skills.
• Willingness to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and be on-call for emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine patrols of campus buildings and grounds.
• Monitor dormitory access to restrict entry to authorized individuals.
• Inspect doors, windows, and gates to ensure they are secured.
• Issue warnings for rule violations and remove suspicious individuals.
• Check equipment for tampering or misuse.
• Document incidents in written reports for supervisory review.
• Provide security coverage for major events (e.g., Commencement ceremonies).
• Enforce campus parking regulations and assist with emergencies.
