Job summary

Mount Saint Mary College seeks a Security Officer to maintain a safe campus environment through proactive patrols, incident response, and engagement with the campus community. You will enforce college policies, respond to emergencies, and provide customer service to students, staff, and visitors.

The role requires shifting with a 4:00pm–12:00am schedule, the ability to lift up to 75 pounds, and NYS security guard certification. Prior security or campus experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of two years of security-related experience.
• Current New York State security guard certification.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Basic computer skills, including email and report writing.
• Ability to respond to emergencies with urgency and sound judgment.

Responsibilities

• Provide general campus security through patrols and fixed posts.
• Respond to alarms, calls for service, and emergencies promptly.
• Detect and deter suspicious activity; report violations.
• Provide information and assistance to students, employees, and visitors.
• Complete security incident reports accurately and timely.
• Deliver excellent customer service in all interactions.
• Provide first aid using AED and CPR when needed.
• Perform dispatching duties such as answering calls and monitoring systems.
