Job summary

Community Partners in Action (CPA) operates the REGIONS Site Secure Residential Treatment Program for male youth in Hamden, CT. The position supports a trauma-informed, client-centered kitchen serving around 200 meals daily while meeting health and safety standards.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, CT food service knowledge, and is able to train youth in food preparation. Per diem role requires flexibility, weekend/holiday availability, and a CT driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• At least 1 year of experience with food ordering and meal prep in a group setting.
• Knowledge of CT food service regulations and DOH requirements.
• Certified Qualified Food Operator or eligible to become certified.
• Ability to instruct staff in food preparation and provide vocational training to youth.
• Valid CT driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Willing to work weekends and holidays.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist Chef in planning and preparing approx. 200 meals daily.
• Assist with inventory and food orders.
• Follow dietary guidelines set by a licensed dietician.
• Maintain sanitation per health department standards.
• Ensure Fire Safety compliance.
• Provide vocational training in food service and safe handling.
• Maintain professional boundaries with staff and youth.
• Demonstrate pro-social behavior and de-escalation as needed.
• Comply with program policies and procedures.
