Job summary

Community Partners in Action (CPA) is seeking an Assistant Chef for the REGIONS-Site Secure Residential Treatment Program for male youth in Hamden, CT. The role supports planning and preparing meals, ensuring nutrition, and following health guidelines.

The position requires culinary experience, CT regulatory knowledge, and a willingness to train youth in food service. Schedule is Tuesday–Saturday 10:00 AM–6:00 PM with Sunday and Monday off; compensation is $24.38 per hour.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least one year of experience with food ordering and meal preparation in a group setting.
• Understand CT food service regulations and DOH requirements.
• Certified Qualified Food Operator or able to qualify.
• Ability to provide vocational training on food service to youth.

Responsibilities

• Assist Chef in planning and preparing three healthy meals for approximately 20 youth and staff.
• Assist with inventory and food orders; follow dietary guidelines.
• Maintain sanitation per agency specs and Health Department standards.
• Monitor Fire Safety Standards per local and state law.
• Provide vocational training to program youth on food service and safe handling procedures.
• Comply with program policies and procedures.
• Establish professional boundaries with staff and youth.
• Serve as a role model with pro-social behavior.
• Participate in required training.
• Perform other duties as required.
