Job summary

Oakland Museum of California (OMCA) is seeking a Human Resource and Payroll Specialist to support payroll, benefits, onboarding, and HRIS administration. The role ensures compliance with state and federal requirements and partners with ADP and benefit providers.

The candidate should have 3–5 years in HR/Benefits/Payroll, a degree (A.A./B.A.) with PHR preferred, and strong communication and organizational skills. Proficiency in Google Workspace, MS Office, and HRIS is required.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years related experience in HR, Benefits and Payroll administration
• A.A. or B.A. degree in related field and/or PHR Certification, preferred
• ADP Workforce Now benefit experience, preferred
• English language proficiency in both spoken and written form
• Working knowledge of Google Workspace, MS Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and HRIS software, required
• Ability to interface with all levels of management and staff while maintaining confidentiality and sound judgment
• Ability to perform multiple tasks with varying priorities and attention to detail

Responsibilities

• Oversee the timecard collection and review process
• Coordinate onboarding, including background checks, documentation, orientation, benefits enrollment
• Administer payroll and benefits, payroll deductions, and compliance reporting
• Maintain HRIS and benefits portal data and COBRA/pre-tax programs
• Respond to employee questions and inquiries via the HR channel
• Liaise with ADP and TIAA-CREF for payroll and 403(b) processing issues
• Ensure regulatory postings and HR records are compliant
