The company has 60+ staff across 20+ states and offers meaningful equity alongside a base salary and benefits. You’ll collaborate with Finance, Recruiting, IT, and Ops, shaping scalable HR systems and self-serve resources as WellTheory grows.

Qualifications

• 4-7+ years in People Ops or HR with payroll ownership.
• Experience running multi-state payroll and compliance.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state employment law.
• Excellent attention to detail and discretion.
• Comfort with AI tools to automate tasks.
• Thrives in a fully remote, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Run bi-weekly payroll in Gusto and Deel for employees and contractors.
• Own compliance across dozens of states for payroll taxes and filings.
• Be the go-to confidential first point of contact for employees.
• Support benefits, leaves, and accommodations; manage open enrollment.
• Keep HR policies current with evolving federal/state law.
• Own onboarding and offboarding processes for a smooth experience.
• Automate repeatable People Ops tasks using AI with strong judgment.
