Job summary

Garelick Farms, a Dairy Farmers of America company, seeks an HR Specialist to support payroll, recruitment, onboarding, and employee relations at our Massachusetts location. The role covers benefit inquiries, leave management, and regulatory compliance in a fast-paced plant environment.

The candidate should have 1–3 years HR experience, a high school diploma (undergraduate HR coursework preferred), and strong MS Office skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Undergraduate degree and/or human resources course work preferred
• 1 to 3 years of human resources experience, preferably in a generalist role
• Certification and/or License – may be required during course of employment

Responsibilities

• Administer payroll processing, including tracking, auditing, transmitting, and correcting payroll transactions
• Recruit for the location: resume screening, scheduling interviews, reference checks, background checks, testing
• Assist HR team to identify sourcing and hiring strategies
• Coordinate recruitment and onboarding of temporary staff with agencies
• Coordinate candidate travel; submit expense reports for interview trips
• Assist with new hire onboarding
• Coordinate new hire orientation; collect tax documents, I-9, E-Verify
• Liaise on benefits questions; assist with enrollment and open enrollment
• Submit terminations and changes to payroll
• Facilitate leave management across systems
• Maintain personnel files and documentation; track missing items
• Respond to HR inquiries
• Liaise for corporate communications and post communications
• Maintain employment law postings
• Support engagement activities and recognition events
• Coordinate training and attendance at DairyU meetings
• Complete unemployment claims
