Job summary

Flatbush Cats, a Brooklyn-based nonprofit, seeks a People Operations Manager to lead HR across recruiting, onboarding, performance, development, engagement, and retention. Reporting to senior leadership, you will build consistency and structure in people practices to support a growing organization and empower managers as leaders.

The role emphasizes empathy, sound judgment, and scalable systems, with a hybrid schedule (five days/week, one remote day).

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of progressive HR experience, including experience partnering with leaders across multiple HR disciplines (required).
• Experience building or improving HR programs, processes, or systems in a growing organization.
• Strong knowledge of employment law and HR compliance (required).
• Experience with HRIS platforms and HR technology (required).
• SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Strategic People Leadership: Partner with leadership to align people strategies with organizational goals.
• Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning: Lead recruiting strategy and workforce planning.
• Employee Experience & Engagement: Design and continuously improve the employee journey from onboarding through career development.
• Leadership Partnership & Employee Relations: Coach managers on performance, communication, and employee relations.
• People Operations & Compliance: Oversee HR operations, information systems, policies, benefits administration, and compliance.
• Organizational Growth: Design scalable processes that support expansion.
