Job summary

The Salvation Army North & Central Illinois Division seeks a Human Resources Generalist to support Harbor Light operations. This role focuses on recruitment, onboarding, benefits management, and employee relations to ensure compliant, efficient HR processes.

The position reports to the Director of Business Operations and requires 3–5 years HR experience, a BA in HR or related field, and proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. FLSA: Non-Exempt; Status: RFT.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in human resources management or another business-related field is required.
• PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SCP certification preferred.
• 3–5 years HR related experience.
• Proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement recruitment plans and ensure timely communication with candidates.
• Create and maintain employee files with strict confidentiality.
• Onboard new hires with required paperwork completed online and tracked.
• Manage benefits, leave, and workers' compensation processes in coordination with HR.
• Address employee relations issues and perform counseling with management.
