Job summary

Harrison Street Asset Management (HSAM) seeks a detail‑oriented HR Coordinator to join the People Operations team in Chicago. You will manage onboarding/offboarding, maintain HRIS data, and support payroll and benefits activities while partnering with managers and external vendors.

You will handle employee records, generate reports, and assist with HR projects in a fast-paced environment, providing excellent service to employees across the lifecycle.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of experience in an HR coordinator, HR operations, or HR administrative role.
• Working knowledge of HR processes, benefits, and basic employment regulations.
• Experience using HRIS and payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Workday, BambooHR, or similar).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• High level of discretion and professionalism with sensitive information.

Responsibilities

• Perform onboarding and offboarding processes, including documentation, orientation scheduling, system access, and new employee communications.
• Manage employee data changes including promotions, transfers, and terminations.
• Serve as primary administrator for the HRIS, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
• Act as first point of contact for People Operations inquiries regarding policies and processes.
• Maintain accurate employee files across HRIS, benefits, and payroll systems.
• Generate regular and ad hoc employee reports for the People Operations team.
• Prepare employment verification letters and related documentation.
• Assist with offboarding activities.
