Job summary

James and James Fulfilment is seeking a People Generalist to support our Head of People in building a people-centered, values-driven culture at our Columbus sites. This on-site role spans HR admin, employee support, and facilities coordination, with travel between two fulfilment centers.

You will assist benefits and absence management, handle day-to-day HR inquiries, maintain HR and TA systems, and support recruitment and onboarding processes while promoting fair employment practices.

Qualifications

• Prior experience as HR Generalist or HR Coordinator or similar people-support role.
• Strong working knowledge of US federal and state employment laws and HR compliance requirements.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Comfortable managing front of house duties alongside HR admin and juggling shifting priorities.

Responsibilities

• Support our Head of People in delivering a people-centered, values-based culture across our 2 sites.
• Support benefits administration, including processing and tracking leave and managing sickness/absence records.
• Be first point of contact for employees and line managers on day-to-day HR queries.
• Help deliver HR administration services – contracts, employee records, HR and TA systems.
• Support recruitment – coaching hiring managers, coordinating hourly role recruitment, keeping things moving.
• Help create and maintain employment policies and processes, including attendance management.
• Support onboarding and orientation for new starters.
• Plan and run employee engagement initiatives – surveys, recognition schemes, on-site events.
• Manage day-to-day office facilities and shared spaces; front-of-house duties.

This is a broad, hands-on support role for someone who enjoys variety and doesn't mind moving between HR admin, employee support, facilities coordination ensuring seamless workplace operations.

What you'll be doing:

• Support our Head of People in delivering a people-centered, values-based culture across our 2 sites
• Support benefits administration, including processing and tracking FMLA and other leave, and managing sickness and absence records
• Be a first point of contact for employees and line managers on day to day HR queries, escalating more complex employee relations issues as needed
• Help deliver a smooth HR administration service - contracts, employee records, and maintaining our HR and T&A systems
• Support the recruitment process - coaching hiring managers in interviews, coordinating hourly role recruitment and keeping things moving
• Help create and maintain employment policies and processes, including attendance management
• Support a great onboarding and orientation experience for new starters
• Help plan and run employee engagement initiatives - from surveys and recognition schemes to on-site events - that keep our people connected and motivated
• Responsible for the day to day management of office facilities and shared spaces
• Manage front of house duties, including greeting visitors and managing visitor access

You’ll be based on-site at our Columbus fulfilment centers and office. This role involves light physical activity, including standing, walking, and occasional lifting. You’ll also need to be able to travel between the two fulfilment centers.

What you’ll bring:

• Previous experience in an HR Generalist, HR Coordinator, or similar people-support role
• A good working knowledge of employee relations and HR best practice
• Comfortable managing front of house duties alongside HR admin, and able to juggle shifting priorties
• Highly organized, with great attention to detail
• A warm, professional, can-do approach - you’re often the first face people see
• Analytical skills with proficiency in Google Sheets / Excel
• Strong knowledge of US federal and state employment laws and HR compliance requirements
