Job summary

Allied Media Projects seeks a Human Resources Manager to create a more humane, equitable HR system. You will lead benefits administration, recruitment, and staff development while supporting organizational culture in Detroit.

The role requires a minimum of three years in HR, with a compassionate, professional approach. You will coordinate payroll, policy updates, and employee handbooks, reporting to the Executive Director.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years in Human Resources management or related field.
• Empathetic, compassionate HR approach focused on people development.
• Understanding of people development within mission-driven organizations.
• Ability to manage multiple complex needs, projects and systems.

Responsibilities

• Design HR strategy aligned with AMP's mission and goals.
• Manage employee benefits programs (medical, dental, retirement, leave, HSA).
• Oversee hiring processes: job descriptions, postings, interviews, offers, onboarding.
• Develop systems for recruiting, managing and evaluating contracted labor and vendors.
• Research and implement HR software and services to improve efficiency.
• Handle staff concerns or grievances and coordinate with mediators when needed.
• Build a resources database for staff well-being; provide access support.
• Coordinate employee development requests and ongoing training.
• Annually update job descriptions and staff evaluations.
• Assist with payroll and contribute to healthy organizational culture.
