Job summary

Smithfield Fresh Meats Corp in Clinton, NC is seeking an HR Generalist who will serve as a people-first partner and drive critical HR initiatives across the site. You’ll help retain hourly staff, support labor relations, and ensure compliant HR operations in collaboration with site leaders and employees.

You’ll guide staffing, policy implementation, onboarding, and training while maintaining meticulous HR records and participating in audits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Management, or related field and 2+ years of related experience, or equivalent.
• Employment law knowledge: Solid understanding of employment law practices, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Confidentiality & Integrity: Proven ability to manage sensitive information with the utmost confidentiality and discretion, maintaining trust and professionalism at all times.
• Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey information and collaborate effectively across all levels.

Responsibilities

• Foster a positive labor and employee relations environment, while facilitating workplace investigations or other inquiries under the guidance of the site HR leader.
• Collaborate with the plant management team to help ensure hourly production employee retention in line with HR metrics and goals.
• Assist with job fairs, onboarding, training and development workshops, labor relations, and payroll processing.
• Communicate and demonstrate Smithfield's ROI guiding principles and provide necessary resources on FMLA, LOA, ADA, Workday Resources, etc.
• Assist with preparation and oversight of HR-related audits and maintain accurate records in HRIS.
• Work with the site HR leader on HR policies, workforce planning, orientation, and on-the-job training initiatives.
