Job summary

La La Land is looking for a People Generalist to support employees through the entire lifecycle and handle compliance, workers’ compensation, payroll inquiries, and HRIS support. You will ensure accurate records and collaborate with Operations, Payroll, Benefits, and other departments to apply HR policies consistently.

The role emphasizes strong organizational and communication skills, confidentiality, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic restaurant/hospitality environment.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years in a HR Generalist role, fast-paced environment.
• Multi-state compliance knowledge preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required or preferred.

Responsibilities

• Act as first point of contact for employee questions on HR topics including onboarding and data changes.
• Coordinate workers’ compensation inquiries and claims follow-up.
• Process leave of absence requests (FMLA, CFRA, pregnancy) and ensure documentation.
• Assist in addressing payroll inquiries and discrepancies.
• Develop and implement HR policies and procedures.
• Maintain employee records in HRIS and ensure confidentiality.
• Support audits and compliance reporting (EEO, unemployment, verifications).
• Support performance management processes and documentation.
