Job summary

WPAS in Los Angeles is seeking a Retirement Processor Trainee to join our team. This in-training role supports pension benefit processing under supervision, learning plan provisions and participant eligibility for retirement, disability, and death benefits.

Responsibilities include record maintenance, benefit requests processing, participant interviews by various channels, and cross-department coordination. Strong written and verbal skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

• 3 years of general office experience
• Working knowledge of basic office equipment
• Positive interpersonal communications with internal and external clients
• Ability to stay calm and positive in all communications
• Accurate and timely review and editing of documents
• Proficient with computer and phone systems to perform essential functions
• Experience using Microsoft Office software
• High school diploma or GED

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate continuous learning and understand plan benefits; assist with other stations as needed
• Maintain and update records required to process retirement benefits
• Receive, compute, research and evaluate vesting, retirement, death, and vacation benefit requests
• Interview Plan participants, beneficiaries, or representatives by phone, email, and in person
• Coordinate with other departments, union representatives, trustees as required
• Learn codes in the Pension database
• Perform related duties including communications, correspondence, suspense processing, and record keeping
• Handle routine and semi-routine duties and multi-task as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned
