Job summary

Design Systems Builders (DSB), the self-performance division of T.W. Frierson Contractor, is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead complex metal building projects in a collaborative setting.

This role focuses on budgeting, scheduling, and cost control for PEMB and conventional builds while coordinating with superintendents, engineers, and subcontractors. The Senior Project Manager will drive project performance, nurture client relationships, and mentor junior staff, ensuring timely, on-budget

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of project management experience in commercial/industrial construction.
  • Minimum of 2–4 years in pre-engineered metal building PEMB systems construction.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain project budgets, schedules, and cost controls.
  • Lead weekly project meetings with stakeholders and manage change orders.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and subcontractors to meet project goals and timelines.

Job description

Design Systems Builders (DSB), the self-performance, pre-engineered metal building division of T.W. Frierson Contractor, is seeking a skilled Senior Project Manager to join our collaborative and innovative team.

At DSB, we partner with General Contractors, Developers, and End Users to furnish and erect pre-engineered and conventional metal buildings and related steel components.

The Senior Project Manager holds responsibility to develop and maintain project budget, schedules, and cost control on assigned pre-engineered and conventional metal building projects. The secondary focus of this position is to coordinate and manage projects with internal superintendents and project managers and subcontractors on project.

The Senior Project Manager holds responsibility for planning, directing, and coordinating activities of commercial and industrial pre-engineered and conventional metal building projects to ensure that the goals and objectives are accomplished within the prescribed time frame and funding parameters. An additional focus of this position is to strengthen existing relationships as well as build new and lasting relationships with clientele and trade partners.

What You'll Do
  • Establish and maintain project goals and success criteria meeting the client's needs.
  • Develop and maintain project budget, schedules, and cost control. Actively track each aspect of project performance against schedules and critical path. Submit and review change orders while effectively communicating issues and developing resolutions.
  • Initiate and conduct weekly project meetings with all stakeholders.

  • Maintain continual open communication with clients, design team, Project Superintendents, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Provide leadership, coaching and mentoring of less experienced Project Managers.
  • Manage and supervise Project Engineers and Senior Project Engineers as required.
  • This position directly supervises Project Engineers and Senior Project Engineers assigned to work on projects under their supervision. This position also supports, mentors, and trains less experienced employees to enhance their value in the organization.
  • Attend client interviews and meetings.
  • Contribute to the development of standard operating procedures for the Operations Team.
  • Coordinate all pre-engineered and conventional metal building's product design with internal and external design professionals.
  • Coordinate Division 5 products that integrate with the Metal Building Designs.
  • Interact regularly with Butler Manufacturing
  • Coordinate with the Estimating department with all pre-engineered metal building orders and specialty metal siding orders from other suppliers using supplier-specific estimating and purchasing software, as well as other means of placing orders such as emails and phone calls.
  • Coordinate scheduling of orders and review shop drawings prior to arrival at correct location/time and troubleshoot any problems associated with schedule.
  • Coordinate and manage pre-engineered and conventional metal building projects with DSB superintendents, General Contractor project managers and superintendents, and subcontractors.
  • Ensure collection of billed monies and report problems to Chief Financial Officer as appropriate.
  • Coordinate occasional conventional steel work with all the same needs as PEMB.
  • Perform additional assignments at supervisor's direction.
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of work experience in project management in a commercial/industrial construction environment
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of work experience in a pre-engineered metal building / PEMB systems commercial construction environment
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a customer-service orientation
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to read and understand construction documents
  • Ability to produce quality work in an efficient manner with little supervision in an ever-changing environment
  • Good computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Microsoft projects, ACC, Procore, P6 Scheduling and internet-based applications
  • Ability to operate basic office equipment including computer, printer, copier, fax, scanner, adding machine, telephone, and mobile phone/radio
  • Must possess a valid, state-issued driver's license
  • Ability to work Monday through Friday, at least eight hours per day, five days per week between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
  • Occasional travel to meetings or events within 75-mile radius of office, 1 - 2 times per week
  • Occasional travel to various project locations requiring an overnight stay, 10-15 times per year
