Job summary

University of New Mexico seeks a Peer Tutor/Mentor in the Gallup campus TRIO/SSS program. The role blends tutoring with mentoring, supporting students in college courses and guiding them through resources such as scholarships, advising, and study skills.

The position involves creating workshops and presenting to groups, with a focus on writing and math/Science subjects. The student worker will maintain confidentiality under FERPA, coordinate with staff, and travel as needed for TRIO/SSS

Qualifications

• Be a UNM student enrolled at least part-time (6 credits).
• Have completed English 1120 and Math 1220 with a B or better.
• Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher.

Responsibilities

• Tutor students in-person or via Zoom on assigned courses, individually or in groups.
• Develop and host workshops to build study skills and writing strategies.
• Mentor students and help them navigate scholarships, advising and financial aid resources.
• Assist with CRLA certification requirements and maintain lab spaces and materials.
