Job summary

Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System in Reno County, KS is seeking a Peer Support Specialist to provide direct mental health support, assist in recovery planning, and participate in coordinated care with partners.

The role emphasizes compassionate engagement, documentation, trainings, and adherence to privacy standards, while promoting the mission and values of HRHS.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be 18 years of age and at least three years older than the youth.
• Peer Support Specialist self-identifies as a present or former primary consumer of mental health services.
• Minimum of one year in stable recovery.
• State training as identified.
• Valid driver’s license, insurance and a dependable vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct supportive services to individuals with mental health symptoms.
• Assist clients in generating proactive solutions to barriers regarding their recovery.
• Complete documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
• Complete trainings and attend meetings as directed.
• Participate in care coordination to collaborate with community partners, caregivers, family members, physicians and other treatment providers regularly.
• Act in accordance with the established mission, vision, and values.
• Abide by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability privacy and security regulations regarding all aspects of Protected Health Information (PHI).
• Maintain effective communication and professional working relationships with patients/clients and their representatives, team members, contractors, physicians, peers, outside agencies, and the public.

Minimum Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

• Two years’ experience working with adults in a health-related field
• BHS Certification for Peer Support Specialists in Kansas (KDADS)

• Intermediate knowledge of MS Office programs
• Ability to develop and mentor others.
• Oral communication, interpersonal skills, flexibility, problem-solving skills

Physical Requirements:

• With or without accommodation.
• Light Work: Occasionally exerting up to 25 lbs - frequently exerting up to 10 lbs. 11-25% of the day may be standing or walking.
