Job summary

Concordia University, St. Paul is seeking Peer Tutors to provide tutoring to individual students and groups in person and virtually.

Tutors help students improve academic performance through study skill development and subject-specific tutoring, modeling effective strategies and attitudes for student success. Tutors meet students where they are, attend scheduled sessions on time, respond to requests within 24 hours, and work with staff and faculty to ensure high-quality support.

Job description

Position Overview

Peer Tutors provide tutoring to individual students and groups of students in person and virtually. Peer Tutors assist students in improving academic performance through study skill development and/or subject-specific tutoring. Peer Tutors model techniques, strategies, attitudes, and beliefs contributing to student success.



  • Tutor students in a specific discipline and/or general study skills, organization, and time management. Peer Tutors support students through individual or group-based tutoring sessions, both in person and online.

  • Show up to scheduled shift/session on time and provide updated availability information. Respond to emails and tutor requests within 24 hours and develop a tutoring schedule with clients.

  • Work cooperatively with students, other tutoring staff, and faculty.

  • Complete required training and maintain accurate records of hours and services provided.

  • Expertise in a specific academic subject discipline and/or skill.

  • Passionate about helping others learn and have an appreciation for different learning styles and abilities.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, excellent listening skills, reliable, professional, responsible, resourceful, and able to \"meet students where they're at.\"

  • Positive and supportive nature.


To be eligible to be a CSP student employee, one must:


  • Be enrolled and registered as a CSP student (PSEO students are not eligible).

  • Have a United States social security number.*

  • Be in good standing with CSP academic requirements and student accounts.

  • Have declared a major with CSP.

  • For summer employment, priority will be given to the student employees who are enrolled and registered in summer courses.
