Job summary

Resources for Human Development is seeking a compassionate Peer Specialist to provide peer support to individuals with mental health and/or substance use conditions in Glassport. You will use your lived experience to promote recovery, advocate for clients, and deliver trauma-informed support alongside an interdisciplinary team.

The role involves facilitating peer recovery groups, assisting with treatment plans, and guiding clients toward housing, employment, and community integration.

Qualifications

• CPRS Certification is required.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certification.
• Experience with underserved populations preferred.
• Experience supporting individuals with mental health, substance use, or co-occurring disorders.
• Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.

Responsibilities

• Provide peer support to individuals with mental health and/or substance use conditions.
• Use lived experience to support individuals in their recovery journey.
• Assist clients with developing coping skills and wellness strategies.
• Facilitate peer recovery support groups.
• Support individuals in achieving personal goals (housing, employment, community integration).
• Assist in developing and implementing person-centered treatment plans.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings.
• Provide advocacy and support for individuals receiving services.
• Assist clients in preparing for recovery plan meetings and expressing their needs.
• Provide education to team members on recovery-oriented care and peer support principles.
• Engage clients through outreach and ongoing support.
• Provide crisis intervention services as scheduled.
• Assist in completing assessments and wellness plans.
