Qualifications

• CPR and First Aid certification is required.
• Experience supporting individuals with mental health, substance use, or co-occurring disorders.
• Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
• Preferred: High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience working with underserved populations is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide peer support to individuals with mental health and/or substance use conditions.
• Use lived experience to encourage hope, recovery, and personal growth.
• Assist clients in developing coping skills, wellness strategies, and recovery goals.
• Facilitate peer recovery and support groups.
• Support individuals in achieving housing, employment, and community integration goals.
• Assist with person-centered treatment planning and interdisciplinary team participation.
• Advocate for individuals and support self-determination.
• Prepare clients for recovery planning meetings and communicate needs effectively.
• Educate staff on recovery-oriented care and peer support principles.
• Conduct outreach, provide ongoing engagement, and offer crisis intervention as assigned.

What You'll Do

As a Peer Specialist, you will:

• Provide peer support to individuals with mental health and/or substance use conditions.
• Use your lived experience to encourage hope, recovery, and personal growth.
• Assist clients in developing coping skills, wellness strategies, and recovery goals.
• Facilitate peer recovery and support groups.
• Support individuals in achieving goals related to housing, employment, and community integration.
• Assist with the development and implementation of person-centered treatment plans.
• Participate as an active member of the interdisciplinary treatment team.
• Advocate for individuals receiving services and support their self-determination.
• Help clients prepare for recovery planning meetings and effectively communicate their needs.
• Educate staff and team members on recovery-oriented care and peer support principles.
• Conduct outreach and provide ongoing engagement and support.
• Provide crisis intervention support as assigned.
• Assist with assessments, wellness planning, and recovery-focused services.
