The American Meteorological Society is seeking a Peer Review Support Assistant to aid volunteer editors in managing peer review processes. This full-time role involves fostering clear communication with stakeholders, supporting editorial tasks, and contributing to the success of the publications team in their Boston office.
The American Meteorological Society (AMS) is seeking a Peer Review Support Assistant (PRSA) to assist volunteer editors with handling manuscripts submitted to peer review, with the goal of prompt editorial decisions. The ideal candidate will thrive in a team-oriented position with administrative support and customer service components. This position reports directly to the Peer Review Support Manager.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Maintain clear communications with editors, reviewers, and authors throughout peer review, to foster an open and transparent process
· Provide direct support for volunteer Editors across all AMS journals (for example, tracking manuscript status, proofreading letters, answering queries)
· Maintain records of the peer review process
· Other duties as necessary to contribute to the overall success of the peer review support team, the Publications Department, and the Society as a whole
Skills and Qualifications:
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential
· Outstanding customer service skills
· Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
· Experience handling multiple responsibilities and prioritizing tasks
· Experience in a professional office environment is strongly preferred
· Proficiency with basic business applications (Google Suite, Adobe)
· Experience with Editorial Manager or other peer-review tracking systems a plus

This is a full-time position, and salary will be commensurate with experience. This position will be based in our Boston office with at least one in-office day weekly.
