Job summary

Baltic Street Wellness Solutions is seeking a Peer Support Specialist for the Adult Homes Initiative in New York City. You will use your lived experience to bridge individuals from adult homes into their communities across the five boroughs, providing one-on-one and group support to foster recovery and wellness.

Applicants should have NYS Certified Peer Specialist status or be able to certify within 6 months, plus strong communication, advocacy knowledge, and the ability to travel for afternoon,

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; college degree preferred.
• At least one year's experience as a peer.
• New York State Certified Peer Specialist or must be certified within 6 months of hiring.
• Knowledge of NYS mental health and substance abuse systems.
• Ability to be a role model and convey a message of hope and wellness.

Responsibilities

• Offer positive, supportive peer relationships that foster trust and hope for positive change, choice, wellness, recovery, and personal empowerment.
• Provide one-on-one and/or group support and continued short-term-support services following relocation.
• Teach community adjustment and wellness self-management skills.
• Complete detailed written records of activities in a timely and accurate manner.
• Peers may be required to cover different homes in the designated borough as needed.
