Job summary

Rodeo Dental & Orthodontics is seeking a Pedo Specialty Registered Dental Assistant for our Mission, TX location. The role focuses on pediatric care, patient safety, and team collaboration.

You will support doctors with exams, take X-rays, manage patient records, and assist with a range of procedures. Travel to multiple sites may be required; bilingual Spanish is a plus; active RDA license in TX is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must maintain an active RDA license registered with the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners (TSBDE).
• 1 year of Pediatric Dental Assisting.
• Active CPR and AED training.
• Current certification to monitor Nitrous Oxide.
• Maintain annual OSHA, HIPAA and Infection Control training.
• Pediatric Dental Assisting experience.
• Dental practice management software (Open Dental/Dentrix) experience helpful.
• Sealant, Coronal Polishing, or PALS Certifications are a huge plus!
• Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
• Ability to travel 10-15% of the time
• Active Driver’s License for travel to different work sites

Responsibilities

• Focusing on Patient Safety and Team Safety as priority one.
• Adhering to OSHA and Infection Control Protocols, and disposing of sharps and clinical waste properly.
• Maintaining digital patient artifacts such as health history, insurance eligibility, treatment plans, and appointments.
• Educating patients and parents on the benefits of good oral health.
• Monitoring the patient’s well-being during the visit.
• Preparing tray setups according to doctor preferences.
• Cleaning, disinfecting, organizing, and stocking exam rooms.
• Charting treatment updates in patient charts.
• Reviewing health history before doctor arrival.
• Taking diagnostic X-Rays and attaching them to the chart.
• Assisting team with cleaning surfaces and areas.
• Performs all other duties as assigned

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Maintaining digital patient artifacts such as health history, insurance eligibility, treatment plans, pre-authorizations, lab requests, procedures, and appointment details


• Educating patients and parents on the benefits of good oral health


• Monitoring the patient's physical and emotional well-being during the entire visit


• Preparing tray set-ups according to doctor preferences and planned procedures


• Ensuring that exam rooms and operatories are cleaned, disinfected, organized, and stocked according to the required standards at the beginning and end of each patient interaction


• Charting existing treatment for new patients by updating the patient chart with entries for fillings, crowns, sealants, etc.


• Reviewing the patient chart and health history prior to the doctor arrival and reconfirming the patient's chief concern


• Taking diagnostic quality X-Rays and attaching them to the patient chart


• Helping the Rodeo Team clean surfaces, sinks, floors and common areas of exam rooms, operatories, reception, break rooms, restrooms, etc.


• Performs all other duties as assigned

• Prolonged sitting and standing as needed
