Job summary

Columbia University Medical Center’s Department of Pediatrics seeks an Administrative Aide in a full-time role to support daily clinical operations within the hospital practice. Responsibilities include greeting patients, triaging visits, updating EPIC records, and coordinating referrals and authorizations.

We offer a collaborative environment with opportunities to assist physicians and nursing staff, maintain scheduling templates, and handle patient communications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least two to three years of related experience or equivalent in education and/or business experience.
  • Fluency in Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Meet and greet patients.
  • Triage all new patient visits, with insurance approvals and referrals.
  • Verify/update all patient demographic information in EPIC.
  • Obtain/verify all patient insurance information.
  • Verify patient's insurance eligibility.
  • Inform and advise patients of insurance and CU billing protocols.
  • Process patient arrivals through EPIC and manage referrals/pre-authorizations.
  • Collect all co-pays and patient fees at time of service.
  • Filter/triage calls and take accurate messages.
  • Monitor EPIC Work Queues for open referrals and follow-up.
  • Schedule exiting patients for follow-up visits and referrals.
  • Manage patient portal messages and respond to clerical tasks.
